Let’s face it, pit bulls get a really bad rap. On the outside some of them seem “vicious” but on the inside, as long as they’re trained, they are soft hearted animals like any other dog. Despite the stigma that surrounds pit bulls, there are a ton of famous celebrities who are absolutely in love with the breed. While we’re used to seeing the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears tout their toy-sized dogs in their purses, these 21 celebrities would much rather give their beloved pit bulls a nice big hug.

21. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba isn’ Channing Tatumt just an actress and smart business woman. The co-founder of The Honest Company, which took in 1.7 billion last year in revenue, is also crazy about her pit bull. Alba has an American Bull Dog named Bowie after the late musician David Bowie, and from the looks of it she doesn’t seem like she minds carrying him around.

Jessica Biel may have her hands full with her 1-year-old son Silas, but she and husband Justin Timberlake also spread the love to their pit bull named Tina. Biel may not share too many photos of her son, but she does show off her dog Tina under the hashtag #TuesdaysWithTina.

Jennifer Aniston became a pit bull lover when she adopted her pit bull mix in 2012 with husband Justin Theroux. The two, who were just dating at the time, decided to name the new addition to their family Sophie, after the famous Meryl Steep film “Sophie’s Choice”. In total, they have eight dogs.

While he was host of “The Daily Show”, he allowed his employees to bring their dogs to work for a fun and pooch friendly atmosphere. At the time he explained, “Dogs are allowed at my work, because people are, you know, meaner.”

Dr. Phil does more than give people advice on his show. He has confronted people who use dogs for dog fights on his show as well. Also, in 2012, Dr. Phil saved a jindo dog and her eight puppies who were set to be euthanized. After the rescue happened, Dr. Phil brought his own jindo dog out for guests of his show to see.

Actress Sophia Bush decided to adopt her blue pit bull named Griffin in 2012. The two are always pictured together on the star’s Instagram page along with her two other pit bulls. Griffin was rescued by Wags and Walks, an organization that is dedicated to rescuing dogs from shelters and finding them homes. As for Sophia, she describes herself as a “crazy dog lady”.

The Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is a huge lover of dogs. He and his wife Gisele adopted a pit mix named Lua. Not to be outdone by her famous parents, Lua decided to star in an UGG Australia commercial with her dog dad and owner, Tom Brady. Lua is also a big sibling to their newest rescue dog named Fluffy. The parents said that the dog is a “pure joy”.

Broadway show animal trainer Bill Berloni is a huge lover of animals. He works with a whole slew of dogs for his job, and most of them are saved from shelters before they debut on the stage. Bill has pointed out “bully breeds” such as pit bulls are the best to train, as he has said that they’re the most loyal of dogs.

Actor Ken Howard owes his life to his dog Shadow. In 2000, Howard collapsed at home. At the time the actor was alone and suffocating, but was saved when Shadow alerted his wife Linda that he needed help by growling at her until she followed his lead. The discovery lead to Ken getting the kidney transplant he needed.

Actor Josh Hutcherson is known for playing Peeta in “The Hunger Games” series, but on his down time, he can’t get enough of his pit bull named Driver. The star rescued his pooch with the help of Hands Paws Hearts, which is a shelter based in Los Angeles. Before his adoption, Driver had a broken leg and was awaiting surgery. Shortly before his surgery Hutcherson met the dog, and the rest is history.

Ira Glass, who’s known as the host of NPR’s “This American Life”, made a home for a pit bull named Piney, with his wife Anaheed Alani. Back in 2012, Ira opened up about falling in love with his dog, telling Newsweek, “I think because he is such a troubled little soul, it made my heart go out to him.”
